Did you know there are two different minimum wages? There's the minimum HOURLY wage that hourly employees must be paid who are eligible for overtime. And there is the minimum SALARY that employees who are not getting overtime are required by law to be paid, regardless of hours worked.
That minimum salary has been the same for many years. It was set to increase January of 2017, but that was stalled by a federal injunction in November of 2016. Now the new higher rate is set to become effective January 1, 2020.
